What is terrazzo and why is it back in fashion?
Terrazzo is a composite: chips of marble and natural stone are bound with cement or resin, then the slab is ground smooth and finished matt. The method was born in 15th-century Venice, where stonemasons put marble offcuts to use, and today it is a designers' favourite.
A terrazzo pattern cannot be mistaken for anything else: every chip is visible, every slab slightly different. Yet the surface is even and dense — easier to care for than pure marble, because the binder does not absorb liquids as readily and the matt finish hides signs of use.

How to care for terrazzo?
Daily cleaning takes a soft damp cloth and a pH-neutral cleaner. Wipe acidic liquids — wine, citrus juice, vinegar — straight away, as marble chips are acid-sensitive. Renew the protective sealer every couple of years; we offer that service ourselves. Use a trivet under hot pans.

Yes. A terrazzo surface is dense and matt, so it hides everyday marks well. Like marble, it needs a protective sealer and prompt removal of acid stains — we talk about care honestly in the showroom.
How does terrazzo differ from marble?
Marble is natural stone cut from a single block; terrazzo is a slab cast from marble chips. The terrazzo pattern is more even and can be chosen by tone, the price is usually below marble and the surface is less sensitive.
How much does a terrazzo countertop cost?

Can terrazzo slabs be used on floors and stairs?
Yes — that is where terrazzo comes from. The same decor can be ordered for the countertop, the stair treads and the floor, so the room reads as one.
